This was a much closer game than the scoreline suggests, with a very solid performance from the A's who more than matched their opponents.

Ultimately it was the youth and the abundance of players that Racing Club Warwick had on show that was Wakes undoing. For 70 minutes, Wakes were more than a match and could have won it if not for tired legs towards the end of the game.

The first half was a solid showing from Wakes, and they deservedly went ahead. Wakes were on top and controlling the game until a penalty was awarded. This was harsh on Wakes, particularly when a handball from the Racking Club Warwick player in possession was ignored seconds before the referee awarded what would be a very soft penalty by most peoples eyes. It was made worse when a Wakes player got sin-binned for protesting the handball and the penalty. Racing Club Warwick would have felt fortunate to get the advantage, and they took the opportunity to make it 1:1. Racing Club Warwick, playing against 10 men for the next 10 mins then got another goal to put themselves in front. At this point there was a danger that Wakes would implode, but to their credit they matched Racing Club Warwick and they got a goal back to make it 2:2.

In the second half, Wakes were in the lead to make it 3:2. Wakes were playing well and they were containing Racing Club Warwick, though Racing Club Warwick were slowly making their youth and energy count. Racing Club Warwick made some substitutions and the fresh legs worked well for them. They made it 3:3 with a well taken solo goal and then made it 4:3 minutes later against a Wakes team who had clearly spent their energy. Racing Club Warwick then got a 5th minutes before the final whistle. Overall it was a good performance from Wakes and they'll be looking to bring the same level of performance into their next game.
